Susi Bellamy


		Susi, was 'stuck' in the Academia in Venice for over four hours due to the annual ' aqua alta' . She sketched the ancient religious paintings, fascinated by the composition, colours and fabric patterns. In her studio in Florence she created the collages, using Florentine wrapping paper and gold bakery paper. Finally each piece was completed with beautiful handmade Florentine frames.

The Chilean - British artist now, on a new continent has moved away from fine art still life canvases for which he has become well known. The Present exhibition is a celebration of the landscape experience, a distinctive ‘impression’ from an exploration of colour and texture. The choice of the blues that characterise the new paintings owes something to the water, which is a constant element in the English landscape. Using oil media, beeswax, marble dust and sand on board, quarries covered by vegetation and memory have been trapped in under layers in paintings.
