In 2001 three newly graduated artists decided to set up Blandscliff Gallery and Studio to promote and sell their own and others work.
With the help of friends, fellow artists and family the old candy floss shop was repaired, painted and scrubbed. The black boards of cladding that had stood for four years were removed and replaced with decorative grills made from old iron gates.
On Easter 2002 the gallery season was officially opened for the first time by Heather Stoney (Lady A), who has continued this tradition every year since.
Beginning in 2002 they then set about altering the street by painting intricate Murals on the retaining walls and sides of buildings. The rather neglected and graffiti tagged street became the colourful residential and small business street it is today.
The gallery is still artist run with the same ethics of quality and variety from many different artists. “Affordable, unique and inspirational.”
