FeltWEST is a non-profit organization aiming to promote the making of quality felt in Western Australia. They facilitate the sharing of felt making information and skills and encourage and develop contact with felt makers all over the world. Blandscliff gallery, to help celebrate its 10th year, has invited 5 members of FeltWEST to exhibit at this year’s opening exhibition.

John, who has been working at his craft in North Yorkshire for 45 years, studied Design at Scarborough College of Art then trained as a teacher in London at Hornsey College of Art. These design skills developed at Art school are now incorporated into the glazing process, and are particularly evident in his land and seascape plates. His solid art background is evident in his exceptional ability to draw/sketch anything accurately on the round thrown surface. We are delighted to have a new series of work by John as our opening guest potter for this celebratory year.
