Clothylde lives and paints in North Yorkshire.

Her paintings are personal and stylised interpretations, inspired conceptually by Paul Klee's notion of "taking a line for a walk", and in practise by her experience of stained glass design, whereby colours are contained by defined boundaries.

 Her work focuses on landscapes between Whitby and Loftus, whether the open and empty stretches of moors or the crowded semi-symbiotic relationship of cottages and sea on the coast. Her oil paintings evolve from quick outdoor sketches and are elaborated in her studio.

I have been a printmaker for over twenty years, having previously used other media.

I mainly work with collagraph printmaking.

The endless possibilities to experiment with materials that make up a collagraph plate

and the different methods of applying the inks, is a life's work!

My imagery comes from my imagination, helped along by a chosen theme.

That theme is loosely used and often evolves far from the original idea.
